Low impact

Billies Blackwood strives to achieve the best recovery in fallen Otway Blackwood with the smallest ecological footprint.

Cut onsite into billets without the use of heavy machinery and carried out by hand, each of piece of timber is selected for quality and consideration.

Hand selected and resawn back in the workshop, every aspect of the Otway Blackwood tree is utilised for valuable back sawn, rift sawn and quarter sawn lumber.

Maximum recovery

As a furniture maker himself, Will understands the potential of every part of the Otway Blackwood logs he harvests.

In our lumber stock list and the timber rack, you will find an extensive list of useful timber cuts for various joinery and carving applications.

This allows clients to order exactly what they need and avoid ordering large quantities of blackwood with hidden shorts and knots throughout the pack.

Small Business

Billies Blackwood is a local sole trader business. Harvesting, carting and processing on his own, William Butler has been harvesting and utilising Otway Blackwood for his own furniture making business Wood & Wedge for over six years.

Sharing this great source of Otway timbers with other likeminded makers is what gives William his direction in the determining the best cuts to produce quality timber from fallen logs.
